We all want to live and lead healthier lives. And in doing so that also includes our cognition and brain health. Just as we need exercise for the body, we also need exercise for the brain. So today, I’m sharing 3 Quick Ways to Keep Your Mind Sharp.
3 Quick Ways to Keep Your Mind Sharp
If you’re a multi-tasking Mom like me, you’re constantly on-the-go, taking the kids to practice, games and everything in between. We are just starting flag football season for our boys and finishing up volleyball season for our oldest.
So each tip below is great for keeping your mind sharp at anytime, or while on-the-to. Whether waiting for your little to finish practice or waiting in the doctor’s office.
Read. We all know that reading is fundamental. But it also gives our brain a workout. Studies have shown that those who read are more sharper and preserve memory. And I’ve been doing much better in this area by setting reading goals for myself as I set for my kids. Book clubs and creating reading lists can be fun.
Learn. Make learning a life-long adventure. Just like reading, it also gives the brain a workout. This can be a lot of fun because you can literally learn about anything. From your favorite artist to your next travel destination. I am currently finishing a certification in Aromatherapy. It has been challenging with finding the time to complete quizzes, projects and research papers but it’s so rewarding. I definitely plan to continue my studies.
Play. YAS! Brain Games. Have you ever played the card game Solitaire? It was one of my favorites to play and pretty much a classic. Now there’s Pyramid Solitaire App by Mobility Ware…that you just have to try!
As soon as I started the game, I literally felt like my brain was hitting the gym, lol! I was thinking, calculating and plotting my next move throughout the game. Now the object of Pyramid is to clear the pyramid by matching pairs of cards that equal 13. Each game takes just 1-2 minutes. So it’s the perfect game to play on-the-go and in-between various tasks.
Since I’m fairly new to this, I love how it gives tips to help move me along. And because I’m competitive by nature, I love that I can continue to play to beat my best time.
