3 Things When Planning A STAYcation
STAYcation! Yep, I’ve never been a fan of the idea because I couldn’t picture how you would actually feel like you’ve been away when you really weren’t away. Well loves, I’m gonna share with you how it’s done with my ‘3 Things When Planning A STAYcation’!
Well if you are not familiar with the term STAYcation, it simply means that you are vacationing locally or even at home. And with that we ventured to make the most of staying in the area to celebrate our anniversary and my husbands birthday. Again, I’ve never really been excited to do so since I always felt that it wouldn’t feel quite like a getaway! Well, boy was I wrong! How refreshed to I look in this pic, lol…
So, we ventured a few miles down the road from where we live to Chapel Hill NC. And we were not disappointed. We had an amazing time and it really felt like a get “AWAY”!
3 Things When Planning A STAYcation
Where To Stay – It has to be a place that’s not your average run of the mill. A place that does NOT feel like home :).
The Siena Hotel. Oh this gem…A visit to Italy anyone? That’s the exact feeling you get when you stay here. Great service and luxury accommodations! We literally felt like we were out of the country when we arrived.
What To Do – Research ahead and explore the area. Seek out places that you haven’t been to.
I did an article on Day Trips in my area (the Triangle) that covered what to do for a day trip. Since our STAYcation was focused on just spending time together “away” from the day to day, we didn’t want to cram our day with a lot of activities. So we caught a movie which is rare for us to do without the kids…so much fun. I also visited a local clean beauty shop, where I picked up a few wonderful handmade soaps! 
Where To Eat – Because if you are like me, eating is one of your favorite things to do while on vacation. So explore new eateries in the area or take recommendations from family or friends.
We tried a few places that were all YUM and call for repeat visits: Dames Chicken and Waffles sweet and savory eats (actually in Durham NC but we went here on my Hubs actual birthday, so YUM!), Four Eleven (411) West Italian in Chapel Hill NC, Mama Dips southern eats also in Chapel Hill NC.
Overall, we had an amazing STAYcation! Looking forward to the next local adventure.
