Today, I’m sharing what Homeschool Preschool looks like for us with 5 Things for Homeschool Preschool. Every homeschool is different as every family is different. As I’ve mentioned before, I love to see what other families are doing. Lord knows not to compare but to get tips and tricks that I may be able to incorporate into what we are doing. So I do hope that you find this helpful.

Our littlest is 3 years old so I’ve begun adding a little more learning opportunities into our day this year. This was also the age that our youngest at the time was, when we begun our homeschool journey with our oldest, starting in 4th grade. It’s such a fun time. The kids are curious yet busy.
I’ve learned that structure helps but the freedom to explore, ask questions, play and rest, is a must for a successful day. So here are…
5 Things for Homeschool Preschool
Bible
This has changed over the years. I like to use a variety of resources. I feel that at the toddler age, just hearing the Word read and taught to the older kids, that they are learning as well. Here are things that we are using this year:
Apologetics Press, Exploration Series Journey #3. This series is about the Life of Jesus.
5 minute devotionals ‘Jelly Telly’ and an array of videos and studies for kids (and adults) on RightNow Media
Phonics
Our little one has know her ABC’s it seems like before she was 2 and learned letter recognition before 3 years old. I now still use Alphabet Flash Cards to reinforce those learnings.
We started ‘Sight Words‘ last year when she was 2 years old. With me just finding simple words online, printing them and posting them all over our classroom. This year we are using these Flash Cards like these.
Math
I love using a combination of things here from flashcards to things around the house like macaroni noodles as counting aids. Other things I use are below:
Number Recognition and Counting – Flash Cards and Education.com free resource math printouts.
Basic Math activities – Spectrum Early Years: Learn with Me Math Basics for Ages 3+
Writing
At this age, 3 years old. It is all about line formations, that will in turn help with forming letters. I use Education.com free resources for printouts for practicing writing. However, you’ll find way more than writing resources there.
I started this last year, at 2 years old. Starting her with, practicing to hold a pencil. I actually purchased the chunky ‘my first pencil‘. I really didn’t find that it helped that much. As she can hold a regular pencil just as well.
Reading
Read aloud – this is what we call our ‘circle time’. We know that reading aloud to our kids helps to strengthen their social, emotional, and character development.
So for us trips to the library have become a staple to getting board books and books that I can read aloud with all of the kids. As well as trips to GCF goodwill to add some inexpensive books to our shelf at home. Our little loves story time just before her nap time which we still incorporate into our daily schedule.
