Baby Feeding Essentials

Baby Feeding Essentials. Our baby girl has reached the sweet milestone of turning 6 months old! This is a great age, sleeping through the night, having a daily routine, and showing lots of personality. She’s now reached the eating solid food stage. And, although I’ve done this a few times, I have still been going a little “by the book” on a few things. Like introducing solids.

Baby Feeding Essentials

Her doctor recommended starting solids at 5 1/2 months. For instance, starting with rice cereal for a few weeks. Then moving into other soft foods. Introducing a new food every 4 days or so, as to recognize any food allergies. So far, we introduced single grained rice cereal, peas and green beans. I started with greens to promote a love for veggies. So with this introduction of solid foods underway, here are the essentials you need for feeding baby!

  1. Baby Chair. We have the Safety 1st Deluxe Sit Snack and Go , pictured above. I love this option as opposed to a high chair as it can be used at home and for travel. It’s perfect because you just attach it to an existing chair at home. Not only is it super functional but it costs 4x’s LESS than the typical high chair and takes up less space!
  2. Waterproof Bib. I call it the “shirt bib” and it is genius! We were gifted our Bumkins Waterproof Junior Bib, Bunny Patch, also shown above. It totally keeps baby girl clean from food that she decides to spit out.
  3. Baby Food System. When it comes to introducing solids, we sometimes get crazy with making baby foods at home. So with that, some Mommies use the Magic Bullet Baby Bullet Baby Care System. Since I hadn’t bought one already, I just decided to use my Ninja Professional Blender (BL660) that the hubs got me a few Christmas’s ago. It’s a great option because it obviously can be used for so much more than baby food.
  4. Baby Utensils. In the past, I’ve used utensils that were much more rigid…they were metal but coated with plastic. This time around I am using Gerber Graduates Rest Easy Spoons in Assorted Colors, 5-count. I love these because they are soft and flexible baby utensils. The flexibility makes it so easy to scoop up that food from baby’s chin back into her mouth. I also love these Munchkin Stay Put Suction Bowl. I love for baby to have her own dishes.

This Baby Feeding Essentials listed above are not all-inclusive I’m sure but they are all we have needed to get off to a great start with baby girl!

And if you’re looking for a 1 stop shop when beginning to feed your baby or to gift to a friend who has a little one at this stage this Gerber Baby Care Package, Baby Gift is perfect. It includes everything needed to get started like Gerber baby cereal, spoons, bibs, etc!

  1. It’s so interesting how they’re now saying we can start solids a bit earlier nowadays. Morgan will be right behind Izzy so I’ll be revisiting this post in a few months to grab some of these products.

    1. Really, it seems later to me…but I seriously don’t remember from 5 years ago lol. I thought it was 4 months or so, then her Doc said 5 1/2 months supposedly to prevent obesity?! Any who Mommies know best sometimes…

  2. Your sweet girl is so adorable! I don’t have any littles but this is a very helpful post for those who do. I’m thinking about ordering my sister in law one of those bibs for her baby though!

    1. Thanks so much and that would be a great gift! We love ours!

  3. Great advice for new moms, and wow is your little one super cute! The Magic Bullet is the best blender, I love mine.

    1. Thanks so much! And I only hear great things about the Bullet! I would get one if I didn’t have the Ninja already.

  4. What a cute little one! I love that chair!

  5. Awww, look at her! She is absolutely beautiful, mama <3 That shirt-bib thing is AMAZING!! We have a couple of waterproof bibs, but they're not full shirts like that one is-I bet it really is so helpful. Personally, I didn't like the baby bullet. The storage containers were super handy, but I just feel the system itself is way overpriced. Like you, we already had a Ninja, so I ended up abandoning the baby bullet and just using our blender system.
Thanks so much for sharing!! <3
