Change.
We need change.
Because the world is changing.
But while the world is saying, “be the change you want to see’. May we be Heavenly minded, and be the change that GOD wants us to be.
Because “we” get it all wrong sometimes.
With our opinions.
And with our theories.
With our imperfect revelations.
Leaning on our own understanding.
Leaning on what we read in a book instead of the Bible.
Leaning on what we heard someone else say instead of the Word of God.
Leaning on the news.
Leaning on our feelings.
Leaning.
Grasping.
Pulling.
Reaching.
For anything that will make sense.
For anything that will go along in the direction of our cause but not our God.
And could it be that what we want may not be what God wants. And could it be that what we think may not be what God thinks.
Absolutely.
“For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, declares the Lord. As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts.” Isaiah 55:8-9
Because God can see the big picture.
He can see the entire picture.
How this whole thing will play out.
For now we look into a mirror dimly (I Corinthians 13:12) and though one day we will be able to see it all. The entire picture, that is. We cannot yet see it.
So God is longing for us to be the change that He has called us to be.
To be more like Him. Even more so during this chaotic time.
God longs for us to be the church. Even outside the four walls of the church building.
To be Salt.
Light.
Encouraging.
Loving.
Gracious.
Compassionate.
Gentle.
Kind.
Because as we become more like Him, as change is working in us.
It will begin to move outwardly.
Into our homes.
Then into our circles of influence.
And then into the world.
We will then see the difference that we can make in this world.
When we become the change that GOD wants us to be. Which is becoming more like Him.
So may we be like Christ.
Philippians 2:2-11 (NLT).
“Then make me truly happy by agreeing wholeheartedly with each other, loving one another, and working together with one mind and purpose.
Don’t be selfish; don’t try to impress others. Be humble, thinking of others as better than yourselves. Don’t look out only for your own interests, but take an interest in others, too.
You must have the same attitude that Christ Jesus had.
Though he was God, he did not think of equality with God as something to cling to. Instead, he gave up his divine privileges; he took the humble position of a slave and was born as a human being.
When he appeared in human form, he humbled himself in obedience to God and died a criminal’s death on a cross.
Therefore, God elevated him to the place of highest honor and gave him the name above all other names, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue declare that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.”
