Dating Your Kids
It is so important to spend time with your kids, giving them the attention that they much need. Quality time spent gives them a better sense of self and helps them to feel loved. And just like with any relationship, spending time together helps to create life long-lasting bonds that can not be broken. When your child feels closer to you; they will more likely share their life with you, their dreams as well as their fears.
One thing is for sure; the more kids you have, the more individual time spent with them diminishes. But kids need one-on-one time with their parents. Here is some information on the value of spending one-on-one time with your children on Psychology Today. So my hubs and I started taking each of our children out individually so that they could have some 1-on-1 time with us. And it has been hit so far. For now we are keeping it at once a month since we have 4 kids, each child will have a parent/child date one week out of each month. A great idea to go along with this, is to document your outings in the form of a journal or a picture album. These will make wonderful keepsakes!
When coming up with activities to do with your child; be sure to keep in mind their interests and not so much your own. Allow the time to be about them with you sharing in the moment to learn more about them so that you are better able to sow wisdom and love into their life.
