Don’t Be A People Pleaser
Don’t Be A People Pleaser.
Am I now trying to win the approval of human beings, or of God? Or am I trying to please people? If I were still trying to please people, I would not be a servant of Christ. (Galatians 1:10 NIV)

Have you ever found yourself, unable to say “No” when everyone is seemingly asking you to do things, pulling you in a million directions. It’s easy to let this happen. But when it does, you simply have to ask yourself why you can’t say no. Are you afraid that you will disappoint the person that is asking, are you trying to “win” over the person or trying to gain better status with the person that is asking?
We must be ever so careful to not find ourselves in a position of pleasing people rather than Christ. Because one thing is for sure as humans, we are simply hard to satisfy, so what may work for someone one day may not work the next. But our Father God in Heaven is easy to please. He simply just wants our hearts to be towards him…easy enough! Matthew 11:30 (AMP) says, “For My yoke is wholesome (useful, [a]good—not harsh, hard, sharp, or pressing, but comfortable, gracious, and pleasant), and My burden is light and easy to be borne.”
So it’s perfectly fine to adhere to authority as we all should but this is speaking to performing tasks in order to gain status or to try to please everyone in order to get ahead. That is not our purpose but our purpose is to please God! So when you find yourself leaning in that direction, just pray that God will turn your affections toward pleasing him first!
