Dressing A Postpartum Body

A Postpartum Body. After giving birth to my other kids, I basically hid myself for 3 months (before returning to work) until I got the weight off. I had gained over 50-60lbs with each of those pregnancies and had so much of that weight to lose afterwards. But I loathed the idea of buying clothes that were double my pre-pregnancy size so I didn’t and I basically didn’t want to be seen. During that time I felt so out of sorts with not having anything to wear that fit.

Postpartum Body

So with my most recent pregnancy (like the others), I gained over 50lbs and now have a whopping 40lbs to lose. I’m never concerned with losing the weight because that’s a given for me because I love fitness but dressing my body before the weight comes off was the struggle. The difference this time…I decided to dress the skin I’m in and embrace the way I look now as I start my postpartum weight loss journey.
postpartum tip

I am currently 3 pants sizes larger than my pre-pregnancy size and my boobs feel like they have their own zip code as they went up a few sizes too. And I’m just not into body shapers and things of that sort. So what am I doing to ensure I feel my best during this Postpartum time:

  • Hair and Makeup are a MUST! There’s just something about a fresh hairdo and some eye shadow that does it for me! My hubs was a sweetheart and took a day off to watch the kids so that I could go get my hair done. Having my hair done made all the difference in the world.
  • Invest in Clothes that FIT. Yes maternity clothes still fit but purchasing a few inexpensive regular clothes at your current size will bring back a sense of normalcy. Although I still hated buying pants in a larger size, having pants that fit felt awesome! And clothes that fit is key to looking your best while you work on getting the weight off.
