Get Up! Words on being “Doers” of the Word of God.
“Get up”…
This is what the Angel of the Lord says to Joseph in Matthew 2…
At this point Mary has already given birth to baby Jesus. And her and Joseph are in Bethlehem. Herod the king is in search of the one who is called the king of the Jews, as it poses a threat to his kingship.
The magi had come to worship the child, Jesus, and had given him gifts. And after this, the Angel appears to Joseph, telling him to “get up” in Matthew 2:13.
Joseph is instructed twice in this chapter to get up. Each time, the instructs included information on what to do and where to go.
Now these days we hardly think of angels but the Bible clearly mentions there existence and the ways in which they aid us.
Are not all the angels ministering spirits sent out [by God] to serve (accompany, protect) those who will inherit salvation? [Of course they are!] Hebrews 1:14 AMP
So, we know that angels were present during this scene that we read about in Matthew, where the angel speaks to Joseph on these two occasions.
But what I found cool in both instances found in Matthew 2, after the angels tells Joseph to “Get up”, in response to it, the Bible says of Joseph…“He got up”!
And from this we can be encouraged, that in this season we must have eyes to see and we must have ears to hear what the Spirit of the Lord may be speaking to us. And not only to hear it but to “act” on it. To get up!
“But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves.” James 1:22 KJV
May we not only be hearers but doers of the Word of God.
May we “Get Up” and do what the Lord is telling and leading us to do.
Because we have the angels of Heaven working on our behalf.
For He shall give His angels charge over you, To keep you in all your ways. Psalm 91:11 NKJV
So as we continue on the journey, may we respond as Joseph responded. May we ‘get up’ right now and move another step in the direction that the Lord is leading.
