Mommy Time Management
My daughter has gymnastics 1 day a week for 1½ hours, so I have been thinking of different ways to make the most of this time while she’s in practice. In doing so, I came across an article “10 Ways to Simiplify Your Life as a Working Mom”.
I liked the intro as it states, “All moms are working moms, and all moms face the challenge of prioritizing how they spend their time. Time management becomes absolutely critical, though, for mothers who must devote 40 to 50 precious hours a week to a job. For women in such situations, it’s crucial to streamline and simplify pretty much every imaginable area of life.”, which is so true!
The article references a book, “Working Mom’s 411: How to Manage Kids, Career & Home,” by author Michelle LaRowe.
This is what she says about juggling kids after school activities (in bold) and I’ve adapted the tips as applied to activities for my daughter:
- Attend activities that matter most. There is tons of stuff going on at school. I’ve committed to minimally 1 field trip, Open House, End of School Awards, Parent/Teacher Conference(s) to check progress, as I feel these are most important. I currently attend all gymnastics activities.
- Be sure they really want to do the activity. In the running, the activities that my daughter have been interested in are: soccer, dance, basketball and gymnastics. She started in gymnastics when she was 3 years old then dance and now back to gymnastics. I’m excited about gymnastics because I feel that it will offer the best foundation to be successful in any sport.
- Choose an activity that’s close to home. Rule of thumb, No more than 10 miles for a weekly activity. I’m currently traveling 20 minutes one way, unfortunately and it is also a late session. I choose to make this sacrifice until I can find a place closer that offers what the current program offers.
- Make friends with other parents who may be able to give your kid a ride home. I haven’t done this yet. The parents there are already in there little groups…but I’ll work on it, I know that it can be very beneficial.
- Limit the number of activities your kids are involved in. I’ve done this already as for now she is only in 1 activity.
How do handle after school activities?

First of all, LOVE the outfit and the pop of color you added with the shoes!!!
“All moms are working moms”…what a true statement! Even as a SAHM I find that my day is so full and I need to do better about prioritizing my time as a mom. Heading over to read the article NOW!!! Good luck to you in regards to managing your time even better, sounds like you’ve got a great start!!!
Thanks Nicole! I’m learning that some things work sometimes but not all things work all the time, so it’s a little trial and error. Ultimately, I must rely on God to establish my time, with him first, family next and all others will follow. It’s a bit overwhelming sometimes.
I LOVE the skirt. And I love that you paired the outfit with red shoes. I like to wear all black, or put together something similar to what you did, and wear red shoes with it!

Thanks Julie! I love wearing all black too and adding a pop of color with my shoes. Thanks for stopping by!
