Courageously Expecting: 30 Days of Encouragement for Pregnancy After Loss by Jenny Albers is such a needed book. It will be a great resource for many, for years and years to come. I’m excited to share my thoughts on this book with you today.
I suffered a loss at 7 months pregnant and delivered a sleeping baby. And though it was many years ago, I still remember it as one of the most traumatic experiences of my life.
Fresh in my twenties and newly married, I didn’t know how to navigate through such a personal loss. Much less how to navigate pregnancy after loss. I wasn’t aware of any resources that could help. And I didn’t know of anyone else who had experienced it.
At the time, pregnancy loss was rarely spoken of, so no one I knew had ever shared their story. I felt so alone. But it was one of those things where I just tucked it away. I would later deal with it, inch by inch, as I allowed God to stir and start the healing process. God was surely with me, every step of the way and walked me through it eventually.
In reading Courageously Expecting, it amazed me how it brought a sense of comfort to me, as well as peace, and healing from these losses that I experienced so many years ago.
You will feel seen as Jenny shares her personal story of pregnancy after loss. And you will feel God’s comfort as she shares his Word of hope.
I can only imagine how impactful this book will be in the hands of those currently walking this journey.
Though the stories within the book are about pregnancy loss, they also encourage hope for any grief or hardship. You’ll find so much encouragement throughout the book.
In Jenny’s words, in describing Courageously Expecting, “it’s a memoir meets devotional”. So, what you find when you read this book is personal relatable stories of pregnancy after loss paired with the hope and healing you can find in Jesus.
I encourage you to get this book, if you have suffered pregnancy loss and challenged with pregnancy after loss, or if you know someone who has.
It will be a very encouraging resource for them, to let them know that they are not alone, and that healing is possible.
