You ever had one of those days when you just started off on the wrong foot. Or where you just started off on the wrong side of the bed, so to speak. All of the sayings which simply mean, this is not going to be a good day.
We all have.
Today, I just want to raise awareness to the fact that we can very much dictate the way that our day will go.
Because in essence, we cannot control what the day will bring but we can control our response to it, right. And as the saying goes, we don’t know what the future holds but we do know who holds the future.
So, with those two things in mind, we can set ourselves up for a day that may not be perfect and one that may not go as planned but a day that is full of the Lord. A day in which we bring Heaven to earth.
And I’ll take a day full of Him any day.
So, Revelation 1:10 (KJV) says “I was in the Spirit on the Lord’s day,”.
John, the Revelator, is writing what he saw and experienced while in exile on the island of Patmos in the book of Revelation.
The Amplified Bible puts it this way:
“I was in the Spirit [in special communication with the Holy Spirit and empowered to receive and record the revelation from Jesus Christ] on the Lord’s Day,” Revelation 1:10 (AMP)
It sparked a thought in me.
Simply the importance of remaining in the Spirit. Remaining in special communication with the Holy Spirit every single day and not just special occasions.
Not just when we’re in crisis mode but every day all the time.
It sets us up to be empowered to receive what the Lord is trying to speak in our life. And gives us a better chance of implementing the Word in our life.
And empowers us to not only be hearers of the Word but also doers.
So what would happen if we intentionally remained in the Spirit on the Lord’s Day?
First of all, every day is the Lord’s Day.
Each morning when I wake up, one of the first things that leaves my lips is, “This is the day that the Lord has made, I will rejoice and be glad in it”, Psalm 118:24
So, how can we intentionally remain in the Spirit each day?
My answer lately has simply been to look for God in each moment.
To bring Him into every moment of life.
But even further, what does that look like, practically speaking?
As I mentioned, my mind starts with Jesus. And it ends with Him. But we need Him in the in between as well.
3 Tips for remaining in the Spirit each day.
1. Keep your mind stayed on Him. On Jesus. It’s so easy for our mind to stay on the things that we are currently working on: projects, tasks. Even on our family or ministry. But if we are to remain in peace, we must keep our mind on Him.
“Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee.” Isaiah 26:3, KJV
2. Post up scripture verses. Put verses in your phone, on your screen saver, on sticky notes at your desk or refrigerator. Wherever you will see them throughout the day.
“Let not mercy and truth forsake thee: bind them about thy neck; write them upon the table of thine heart:” Proverbs 3:3, KJV
3. Set alarms or notifications. To pray throughout your day and to even praise. So often we go through the entire day without even thanking God for waking us up. We wait until meals to pray or just before bed, when He wants consistent communication with us.
“Pray without ceasing.” 1 Thessalonians 5:17, KJV
Take time this week to try out at least one of these tips, if not all. Blessings to you!
