We’ve finally outgrown our pantry. And our freezer. Because sometimes we outgrow things.
We knew that we would get here at some point because we have 4 growing kids. With the older ones beginning to eat just as much as us, the adults.
And over the past few years, we’ve started storing some dry goods and what we can, in cabinets. Wherever we could find the space.
But we’ve outgrown that as well.
So we’ve been making room elsewhere.
With plans to install some shelving for additional storage.
And guess what? We even purchased a deep freezer.
A deep freezer! Oh yeah, we are really adulting now. Lol.
But isn’t it interesting how sometimes you know the day may come when you outgrow certain things? Like you just already know.
That sometimes we outgrow things.
Like we all had a pretty good idea that we might just outgrow some of our pre-quarantine clothes, right. Just maybe, that it was a possibility.
Because sometimes we outgrow things.
We outgrow people.
At times we outgrow places.
Sometimes we outgrow spaces.
And even our own thinking.
We expect to grow.
Now there is nothing wrong with growing. Growth is actually a sign of health.
Would you think it strange if a child stayed the size of a baby into their teenage years? Yes, because you expect babies to grow into teenagers and then adults, right.
So just as in the natural, the same applies spiritually.
When we are seeking God, we should EXPECT to grow.
We must EXPECT to grow in God.
In His Word.
His presence.
In the knowledge of His truth.
From faith to faith. Rom 1:17
From strength to strength. Psalm 84:7
From glory to glory. 2 Cor 3:18
And as we expect to grow in God, we must expect to outgrow some places around us.
Places that we go.
Things that we watch.
Things that we say.
Because God is refining us in the growth process. As our knowledge of Him grows, our tolerance for things that are not like Him grows smaller and smaller.
And when the time comes, as you grow, make the decision to not shrink yourselves to fit into places that you have outgrown, as the saying goes.
So, expect to grow. And don’t be afraid to grow.
Because sometimes we outgrow things. And that’s a good thing.
