My hubby (So Awesome) bought me tickets to see one of my favorite favorite bands, Third Day, as one of my gifts for Valentine’s Day! Third Day is a Christian Rock/Contemporary Christian Band, formed in the 1990s, now touring, “The Miracle Tour”, and seeing them in concert for the 4th time didn’t tame my excitement for this event! The opening artists, were great (check them out), Josh Wilson and Colton Dixon!
Now, I could see Third Day lined up, ready to come onto the stage and when they came out….my hubby took this pic of me which showed all of my elation!!
Hilarious!!! But it So captures all the emotion I had at the moment, I love this band!!
They sang some of my old school and not so old Third Day favorites: Revelation, Agnus Dei, King of Glory, God of Wonders, Show Me Your Glory, Trust in Jesus and some of my new Third Day favorites: Kicking and Screaming, Your Love is Like a River and I Need A Miracle.
One very touching moment of the concert was when the lead singer, Mac Powell, told the crowd that his grandmother had died earlier that day; that she had been battling for a while and that the family expected her to go any day for a couple of weeks. He dedicated a song to her, also one of my favorites, “Cry Out to Jesus”, that touched me during the loss of my 2 older sisters. A few short verses from this song, they go…
“To Everyone Who’s Lost Someone They’ve Loved, Long Before It Was Their Time. You Feel Like the Days You Had Were Not Enough, When You Said Good-Bye”…”There is Hope for the Helpless, Rest For the Weary and Love for the Broken Heart, There is Mercy and Healing, Grace and Forgiveness, He’ll Meet You Wherever You Are…Cry Out to Jesus”!
One of the highlights of the night occurred during the performance of “Born Again”. Lead singer Mac Powell’s 13-year-old daughter, Scout, came out on stage and sang the female vocals of the song, originally sung by Lacey Sturm on the album version. It was sweet!
Now, the closing! For those who have never experienced a Third Day concert, for the closing they pretend that the concert is over by dimming the lights and walking off stage only to come back on stage to sing a few more songs! I love it!!! It’s always fun to see the people getting up from their seats and walking out and then realizing that it’s not over.
For the last song of the night, “I’m Gone”, it was nice to meet you but I’m gone! Awesome!!!
