The Rye. I attended an annual Christmas luncheon and Ornament Exchange with my sorority sisters this past weekend held at the Rye Bar and Southern Kitchen downtown Raleigh NC. I had never eaten there nor heard of it. Being an NC State alumni, you’d think I’d know all the spots there, but as I walked along Fayetteville St downtown to get there, I noticed several restaurants that are new to me and that I’d love to try. Anywho, I was excited to try a new place with the ladies.

I got there extremely late, this time not fashionably late, late because I was not feeling well that morning. But was able to get dressed and get there. I figured at the least, I could do the ornament exchange. Well when I got there the waitress asked if I’d like to order and I asked if my food would come out with everyone else’s and she said probably so or not to long afterwards. So I ordered the “Meat and 3” from their menu, choosing 1 meat and 3 sides plus sweet tea for only $10…what a deal!

I ordered the meat of the day which was BBQ, green beans, mac n cheese and cole slaw. To my surprise, the order came out shortly there after along with everyone else’s…they brought me mashed potatoes instead of the mac n cheese but I didn’t care. I still can’t believe they got my food out at the same time, besides I love sweet potatoes! The food was soooo YUMMY and flavorful and the service was great! Of course, when you go out with the girls, you have to take group pics so the servers were great with getting group shots for us. I totally enjoyed the experience and looking forward to going back with my hubs!
