My hubby and I took our kids to their first NBA game this past weekend to see the Charlotte Hornets vs the Memphis Grizzlies! It was their first time going to the Queen City of Charlotte too. We are such a sports family and we support our Carolina Teams, the Panthers and the Hornets! Sharing 3 Tips – Sporting Events with Kids
It’s important to my hubs and I to do things as a family but without breaking the bank! So we enjoyed the game from the nose bleed section at $25 per ticket…can you say YAY for a family of 5! Now those same seats are $125 per ticket for the Hornets vs Cavalier’s game.
3 Tips – Sporting Events with Kids
- Choose your home game wisely. So the trick is to definitely choose wisely who your home team will be playing before buying tickets for kids…keeping in my that their attention span is not like adults. The kids really enjoyed themselves and it helped that we all got free Hugo bobble heads as souvenirs. For the grown ups it was cool to be in attendance to see the historical event of the retiring jersey of Hornet’s player, the late Bobby Phills #13, the 1st time in Franchise history. According to USA Today, “Phills’ jersey was originally raised at the Charlotte Coliseum on Feb. 9, 2000, following his death in an automobile accident. When the Hornets moved to New Orleans, his retired jersey went with the team. Now that the Hornets are back, so too is Phills’ jersey.” Pretty cool right!
- Early Arrival. You want to make sure you arrive early so that you can enjoy pre-game festivities, grab food/snacks and to get the kids to their seats before the crowd starts marching all in.
- Game Food. You can’t enjoy the game without game food. Like adults, kids like to eat. It’s fun to get a variety of things and share with each other.
We had a great time and will probably take them to a college game next to cut out the overnight hotel costs…
