Today I am sharing Stress Relief Techniques as Part 2 of my Stress Management posts. If you missed last week’s Wellness Wednesday – Stress Management Part 1, get it here!

The use of relaxation techniques is a great way to relieve stress. One great relaxation technique is to create a relaxing atmosphere and environment by simply dimming lights and playing praise/worship or soft music. Another relaxation technique is a simple breathing technique. It’s easy to do and very relaxing.

Try this basic breathing exercise anytime you need to relax or relieve stress taken from WebMD Stress Management Center:

-Sit in a comfortable position.
-Put one hand on your belly just below your ribs and the other hand on your chest.
-Take a deep breath in through your nose, and let your belly push your hand out. Your chest should not move.
-Breathe out through pursed lips as if you were whistling. Feel the hand on your belly go in, and use it to push all the air out.
-Do this breathing 3 to 10 times. Take your time with each breath.

Are you relaxed yet?
