The adorable Dora, Boots, Backpack, Map and the rest of her friends have been a family favorite since their original release at the turn of the century! We started watching along when our daughter was a baby and she’s now 13. We continued to learn along with Dora with the other 3 kids. So it’s exciting that Paramount Pictures is bringing back this classic with their upcoming live-action film, DORA AND THE LOST CITY OF GOLD on Friday, August 2. Today, I’m sharing 5 Life Lessons – From Dora The Explorer.

5 Life Lessons - From Dora The Explorer
Isabela Moner stars as “Dora” in Paramount Pictures’ “Dora and the Lost City of Gold.”

The film stars Isabela Moner as Dora who, having spent most of her life exploring the jungle with her parents, could never be prepared for her most dangerous adventure – High School. Always the explorer, Dora quickly finds herself leading Boots (her best friend, a monkey), Diego (Jeffrey Wahlberg), a mysterious jungle inhabitant (Eugenio Derbez), and a rag tag group of teens on a live-action adventure to save her parents (Eva Longoria, Michael Peña) and solve the impossible mystery behind a lost city of gold.

5 Life Lessons – From Dora The Explorer

Now through the years, Dora has taught us some really important lessons. And here are a few of them.

1. That Learning Can Be Fun And Adventurous

Learning does not have to be boring. Dora helped us to understand that exploration is a key fun way to learn. And adventure is what Dora was all about while learning new things.

2. That Life Is Better With Friends

Could you ever find Dora without her trusted friend, Boots? Or helpers, Backpack and Map? I think not. And it is because life is definitely better together. And in each episode we see how the group of friends come together to help out. We need each other in life to succeed.

3. To Be Confident

Dora is famous for asking what her audience is thinking. She asks “What color is that door?” and you would answer “blue”. Dora takes a pause and asks the same question, “What color that door”? Again, you answer “blue” with a bit more enthusiasm. To your surprise, Dora asks that same question one more time. You yell “blue” as loud and confidently as you can in hopes that she will hear you through the Television. She never wanted us to doubt ourselves!

4. That Life Will Have Obstacles

Who could ever forget Swiper the Fox coming into play every episode? He was always getting in the way of Dora’s adventure with his mischievous attempts. Often times Dora was able to stand firm and Swiper left her along, in other less fortunate instances, Dora went on a detour to find Swiper and what he had taken from her before getting back on her original track. In both cases, she kept a positive and focused mind and we were still singing “WE DID IT” to end the episode!

5. Spanish!

Now-a-days as global citizens, the ability to converse in a language that is extensively used could be a priceless advantage! The Huffington Post reports that “every American should learn Spanish” to improve cognitive skills, expand horizons and stand out in this competitive job market. Thank goodness for Dora giving us the basics!

Now check out the trailer and catch the movie on Friday, August 2nd!
