Baby Wearing, Which Wrap or Carrier to Buy

Baby Wearing

In times past baby wearing would’ve been considered as ‘spoiling’ a baby. I can hear the older generation moms urging younger moms, “don’t hold the baby all the time, you’ll spoil them”. Well, I guess you can say times have changed.

I had never tried baby wearing per se with any of the other kids. I just held them when I wanted to or when they needed to be held. This go around, I am all into it…baby wearing, that is!

I have 3 different carriers/wraps that I love and recommend:

  • Baby k-Tan – this was recommendation by a few of my friends. What I love about it; it’s not hard to put on nor was it hard to figure out. It literally goes on like a shirt. I like to wear this one around the house…it’s comfy and cozy. Baby loves it. Get the Baby K’tan ORIGINAL Baby Carrier.
  • Baby Bjorn – my hubs bought this one…. I love it because…it can be worn by both myself and my hubby. It feels more sturdy. I like to wear this one out of the house like to the kid’s sports games. It’s cheaper on Amazon than the one we got from Walmart. Get the BABYBJORN Baby Carrier Original.
  • Water Wrap….I just discovered this one because I needed one “water” one for a beach trip. It was/is so perfect and baby girl loved it…napping through out the day at the beach and pool. I discuss the water wrap more in this post. Get the Breathable Baby Wrap Water .

So, there are a host of benefits to baby wearing; like babies crying less. But you may ask, when do you use these? Here are my baby wearing kinda days…

  1. When Baby is Fussy and not at any point is it ‘OKAY’ with them to be put down;
  2. When Momma needs to do a few things around the house and can’t get away from baby;
  3. When Baby Just Needs Mommy;
  4. When Baby wants to explore – on walks outside or just around the house;
  5. When its Summer and Baby is too small to get in the water alone.

Are you a baby wearer? Which wrap/carrier(s) do you own?

  1. I love the idea of a water wrap! We used the Ergo Carrier and Solly Baby Wrap, both we loved. Now that she’s bigger we are loving our Osprey hiking pack too!

      The water wrap was perfect for our beach trip and just our trips to our community pool. I’ll have to look into the Osprey hiking pack for when baby gets bigger. Thanks for sharing.

  2. I have the Ergo and a Moby wrap. I’m thinking of getting a Tula because I’ve been wearing baby #2 a lot!

      The Ergo and Moby are really popular. I haven’t heard of the Tula, I’ll have to check it out.

  3. Well I’m probably a good few years out from having children but that definitely made me think about how I would want to carry my baby…so I’ll definitely reference this when I have children.
