One thing that has made my blog successful that I have heard over and over again from potential collaborators and partners and brands that I’ve worked with, is that I provide and create quality content. Quality content includes both written information as well as great quality digital content. So, if you are looking to step up your game with better videos, this post is for you! I’m sharing a cheat sheet for quality videos.
This is the year of video…if you want to boost engagement on your social media channel, start making videos! Even if it’s a simple welcome video like I created here….

Cheat Sheet for Quality Videos
So this brings me to the subject of this post: the cheat sheet for quality videos, What you Need:
1.The Right Gear
Lighting: Having the right gear is EVERYTHING…did I say EVERYTHING. Okay, just want to make sure I said that lol! Now as a photographer, I know that the lighting is everything. So in the past, I would try to schedule time to record videos when I could get the best natural light in the house. This was so time constraining with everything else going on. Another thing that I would do is use my light umbrellas from my photography business. This was an inconvenience because it consisted of more equipment to have to set up then put away.
Now if you aren’t a photographer, you’re not going to have lighting equipment around the house. So the best thing and the ONLY thing you need is a ring light…TA DA! A ring light is basically a lighting tool that is commonly used for beauty shots and portraits as well as macro photography. This one light source will have you looking FAB, with none of those nasty yellow hues from artificial light. Plus you can record anytime of the day, YES!
And although, I’m focusing on video today, the ring light allows you to capture THE best photos for any beauty shots.
Recording Equipment: There are SOOO many options when it comes to cameras and/or video recording equipment. From the Best DSLR (which I use) to a GoPro or even your phone. Either has the potential to create quality video.
Video Editor: There are many video editors out there as well. Some free and some not. I use iMovie as it is a program that came installed with my MacBook Pro.
2.Road Map (Outline)
So once you have your gear. Be sure to have an outline of what you planning to discuss in your video. This is a must. Days I try to wing it, I wish I could just delete the entire thing sometimes. Without having an outline of what you want to talk about, it is easy to get off subject, go on a tangent, or totally miss something that you would have like to covered. So, you want to be organized in your thinking and relay information to your audience clearly.
3.Focus
Look into the Camera. To do so, means that you are looking your audience directly in the eye. It’s so easy to forget to look directly into the camera and start looking at somewhere else. For instance, it is easy to look at the screen when doing Facebook Live videos but looking directly into your camera, will make for the best quality video. As it will seem that you are focusing on delivering a message to your audience intentionally.
AND well, that’s a wrap lovelies! I do hope that this cheat sheet for quality videos has been helpful! If you have any additional tips and/or a video that you’d like to share with me, please leave a link in the comments section. I’d love to share the love!
