Eat Local, Eat Fresh – The Produce Box
Eat Local, Eat Fresh. Have you ever wondered where your food comes from? Like where did those veggies, fruits and meats that you eat from the grocery store…where did they come from? Great question, right?
I had the opportunity of knowing exactly where my food came from, thanks to The Produce Box. It is a service that brings local grown farm fresh produce directly to your door each week as The Produce Box partners with local farmers and artisan food producers to do so. They are a North Carolina company founded by a stay-at-home mom in Raleigh and now expanding across the state. How awesome!
Each Friday an e-mail is sent out to its members with the next week’s menu. So, upon subscribing, the following Friday, I received the menu, and went to the website to select a box…Here is a sample of their boxes {images via}.
I opted for the Harvest Box for 2 weeks back to back, then I skipped a week because I hadn’t used all the produce I had received from the previous week. Because it is set up as a subscription, the ‘skip next week’ option is awesome for those timeframes.
Inside the Box…everything you need to eat fresh, eat clean, eat local, farm fresh! Even the kids are excited when the boxes arrive!
I found each box to be organized, produce was super fresh, ripe, handled properly with no bruising. I love the insert included in each box which gives recipes that you can use with the food, as well as the farm and farmer from where the produce came from. It also includes how to handle the produce, how to store it and timing of use.
I was very impressed with the system of ordering to delivery. The customer service is also great. I had a question regarding payment and used their direct messenger help box on The Produce Box site. The rep responded quickly and resolved the issue.
After trying The Produce Box, there was no way that I could not continue to use this service…so this week I ordered the Garden Box which will include: English Cucumber (1), Strawberries Small Share, Romaine Lettuce (1), Cherry Tomatoes, Radish (1), Sweet Potatoes. I’m so looking forward to it!
I really love how every order supports local farmers, provides food for families in need, offers a flexible income opportunity for our neighborhood coordinators and helps raise funds for local schools and non-profits.
I highly recommend it! Right now you can get $5 Off a new membership using code LOVELY.
