Finding Hope

Finding Hope

Why are you in despair, O my soul? And why have you become restless and disturbed within me? Hope in God and wait expectantly for Him, for I shall again praise Him For the help of His presence. -Psalm 42:5

The Message Bible states it rather frankly: ” Why are you down in the dumps, dear soul? Why are you crying the blues? Fix my eyes on God— soon I’ll be praising again. He puts a smile on my face. He’s my God.”

Are you trying to find hope in your life? I’m going to share a quick encouragement about how there is always always hope in God.

Everyday is a gift from God. It is in him that we live, breathe and have our being (Act 17:28). Having said that, each day is a NEW opportunity to start fresh. It’s easy to get down in the dumps, easy to feel sorry for ourselves, or feel depressed. There is so much wrong in the world and when life doesn’t flow the way we think it should go, our mind goes into the should’ve, could’ve, would’ve’s! It’s at those times, that we must pump the brakes and deal with those thoughts. Because, when negative thoughts cycle over and over in our mind, they lead to the blues, depression, regret….you get the picture.

There Is Always Hope

We must remember that anything we go through is only temporary. For our light afflictions that are for ‘but a moment’ are working a far more exceeding weight of glory (2 Corinthians 4:17). Just think about these stories from the bible: Jairus’s daughter (Mark 5:21-43) and Lazarus (John 11:1-44). In both instances, the daughter and the man were at the point of death and assumed dead. With Lazarus, he had even been dead for four (4) days. Surely, all things seemed hopeless to everyone around them even to their their family and friends.

BUT GOD! He raised both the daughter and Lazarus up from the dead. These may seem like extreme cases but sometimes we need the ‘extreme’ in order to get our attention. Maybe there is a situation that seems hopeless in your life and everyone around you including your family and your friends agree that it’s hopeless. Well, it’s not over until God says it’s over. If you are still alive and breathing and you are reading this, then there is STILL Hope for you and your situation. It’s never too late, there is always hope. Just as Jesus raised up Jairus’s daughter and Lazarus, He is more than able and willing to resurrect things in our life!

We must trust that God’s Word is true and that he is working all things together for our good. And that he is working all things in our favor. God has a better plan and he sees the bigger picture. That’s why the psalmist in 42:5  says I wait expectantly for Him to help me, soon I will be praising…he puts a smile on my face. He is my God!
