Heart of Christmas!

Heart of Christmas

Getting back to the Heart of Christmas. For the past years my hubs and I have gone over board with gifts for the kids…spending upwards of several hundreds on each child. And each year they open all there gifts, play with their one favorite one and put the others to the side…as we speak there are still brand new toys from past years that have not even been opened. And this is not including what they get from their grand parents and other relatives.

My niece Nicole & her hubs implemented a 3 gift Christmas when their daughter was born, I thought it was cute but nothing we would consider! Well this year, that’s exactly what we are going to do!

Our children are extremely fortunate and blessed with way more “stuff” than we could have even imagined at our age! We really want them and our family as a whole to focus on Jesus during this time rather than gifts! I think I was a bad influence on my hubs, before we met he says he didn’t give out many gifts at Christmas as to not take away from the real meaning of Christmas!

Anywho, we’re putting things back into perspective…and getting back to the heart of Christmas!

For the month of December for our bible class for homeschool, we did a study of the birth of Jesus/Story of Christmas, through the Nativity. We really enjoyed it and during that time, I was able to introduce our new tradition of giving them only 3 gifts each based on the fact that the magi/the wise men presented 3 gifts to our Heavenly Father Jesus and we are no better than Jesus. He is indeed the reason for the season. Surprisingly, they were SO excited. I don’t know if they couldn’t remember how many they got before or just simple math, that 3 are better than 1. In any sense, our prayer is that they always remember Jesus during this time frame and throughout the year!

Merry Christmas Lovelies! What are your thoughts on the subject?
