Maternity Weight + Ruffles

Weight Gain + Maternity go hand and hand…I mean there is a little person growing inside, right! Well, I’ve been given a mandate (maybe that’s a harsher term than it should be) by my doctor to keep my weight under 25lbs for the duration of my entire pregnancy. Now according to google the average weight gain should be between 25-25lbs…why am I capped to the minimum?

Now I’m definitely one to eat well and exercise but I must say this has been interesting. At my last appointment, I did have a boost in weight gain but nothing outrageous. But when the doc asked, ‘Let’s see, did you gain any weight?” She looked at the chart and said, “Yes, you did!” with a shocked face as if I’d gained 10lbs in 2 weeks. I only gained 3-4lbs my entire 1st trimester so my internal thought process was…don’t you suppose to gain weight…I’m confused.

In any case, my hubs had to give me a mini counseling session on the way home. I had only worked out maybe once that week and had eaten ice cream a few nights in a row and to my defense (so I thought) I had on clunky wedge shoes during my weigh-in…so it wasn’t a typical week for me. But like my hubs said, weight gain should be the last of my worries…I’ve had babies before and know how to get the weight off! Both the baby and I are doing excellent and that is a blessing within itself! So no more worries about this nonsense weight cap!

So Ruffles anyone? Checkout this off should ruffle maternity shirt! I’m still able to wear some of my pre-pregnancy jeans so I just paired this shirt with a pair of my skinny jeans to create a cute casual look for a day out!

Thanks so much and thanks for the tip about the salt…I forgot about that! Hope you’re having a great week!

  2. You look great lady. I honestly can’t remember my final number for weight gain (my daughter is 11) but I think it was about 35 lbs. Don’t worry, it’ll come off quick.

Thanks so much! I believe it will come off quick…out of all of my pregnancies, I have been the most active with exercise during this one and as with all of them, I will be nursing as well so that always helps with the weight. Thanks so much for chiming in! Have a great day!

  3. Congratulations on your pregnancy! I know everyone’s body is different. I’ve seen women barely gain weight. I assume your doctor is just trying to encourage you to stay on the lower spectrum so you’re far from any health issues. I’m starting to think about children myself and I know this will be an interesting conversation with my doctor. I look forward to seeing your progress through your pregnancy. 🙂

Thanks so much and I agree…I’m sure it’s so that I can stay cognizant of my weight and not go overboard. Thanks so much for chiming in and I hope that you’re having a great week!

  4. Your husband’s right. You look great! You pregnant and you’re going to gain weight. Some woman do it early and some do it late. Whatever. As long as your not eating unhealthy all time and not headed towards sugar issues I wouldn’t worry about it.

  6. I gained 25 with my son and 50 with my daughter… dressing was so difficult! But you seriously look amazing 🙂

Thanks so much Samantha! And you are right…dressing can be difficult. I gained 50-60lb with my other kids but I wasn’t nearly as active as with this pregnancy so I’m believing I’ll be closer to the 25lb target. Thanks for chiming in. Have an awesome day!
