Measuring Success
As a stay at home/work at home mom, how do you measure success?
As a stay at home/work at home Mom, most days you’re left feeling dissatisfied because you don’t feel like anything has been accomplished…For some reason, we are blinded to all the “things” that we do throughout the day!
The measuring stick for success at home versus corporate America is vastly different, and further, the measuring stick for success in your home is different from someone else’s home. So don’t even try to compare it with either. Also, one day’s success could be different from the next. If, in a day, only the kids get cleaned and fed, that could be a victory all in its self; it simply depends on the day.
When I mentioned how I felt most days to my husband; he encouraged me with this text message…
“You are doing a lot babes! A newborn alone is more than enough, and you do it everyday 24-7: check, major accomplishment! But that’s not all, you are homeschooling 2 kids, which would be enough by itself, and you do it every day: check, major accomplishment! You feed the kids, check- major accomplishment! You cook- accomplishment! You minister to thousands of women with messages from God through social media: check, accomplishment!
Just trying to say, you do a lot in a day, more than most people could handle in a week! Take credit for that, and don’t stress the minor stuff you may miss! 😘”
The moral of this story, take credit for the things that you do and don’t focus on the things that you don’t get done. Taking care of your children, your home and if you are homeschooling, takes a lot of focus and work although it may seem chaotic at times…you are doing a tremendous job!
