Week 26: My Portion {Previous Weeks}
Lamentations 3:24 (NKJV)
“The Lord is my portion,” says my soul, “Therefore I hope in Him!”
Naturally speaking and by definition (Merriam-Webster), a portion means an individual’s part or share of something…in other words, a part of a whole, one’s allotted share. But in the verse above, God himself is our portion meaning that if we have him, we have it all! All that we need is in him…he is more than enough! In fact one of the names of God, Jehovah Jireh, means the God that provides.
God provided a substitute for Abraham’s son just when he was about to be sacrificed! So then, Genesis 22:14 (NKJV) states that Abraham called the name of the place, The Lord Will Provide; as it is said to this day, “In the Mount of the Lord it shall be provided.”
Be encouraged, knowing that God is your portion…he is all that you need and he will provide for you!
