Week 27: Praying for Others {Previous Weeks}

Job 42:10 (NIV)
After Job had prayed for his friends, the Lord restored his fortunes and gave him twice as much as he had before.

So often we find ourselves, praying for our current situations and circumstances and focusing on what is going on around us in our little circle, that we lose sight of praying for others. The fact is, there is so many people in the world that are depressed, dying, hurting, afraid, misguided, sick, lost and searching for answers. Those people need someone praying for them!

We must be sure to find the time to pray for others even when it seems like all hell has broken loose in our lives. The bible clearly describes this situation in the book of Job. He lost everything, everything! It’s hard for us to fathom losing everything but we can put it into the context, such as losing a job or not receiving a timely promotion, the loss of a family member, financial burdens that are seemingly getting worst, a foreclosure, a car repossession, a divorce, legal issues that arise, a decline in health and maybe all these things being thrown at you all at once…this could make us feel helpless and hopeless! Well in the midst of losing everything, Job prayed for his friends!

When Jesus was on the cross, he prayed for others…saying forgive them for they know not what they are doing! Jesus is always the example!

I believe we receive special blessings when we pray for others! Verse 10 of Job 42 says the Lord restored Job’s fortunes and gave him twice as much as he had before! Take time today to pray for someone else and expect the blessings of the Lord!
