Serve God, Not Money
Serve God, Not Money. Matthew 6:24 (AMP) No one can serve two masters; for either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will stand by and be devoted to the one and despise and be [a]against the other. You cannot serve God and mammon ([b]deceitful riches, money, possessions, or [c]whatever is trusted in).
You can not serve God and money (mammon), the bible says for you would love one and hate the other.
Now what does that really mean? I think for years people have been taking this verse out of context by saying God does not want us to have money or does not want us, his people to be rich but that is definitely not the case.
This verse is simply a warning…We must be careful in the times that we are living in to stay focused on God and his Word and not on our own ambitions with regards to the accumulation of wealth. Ambition is an awesome thing to have but when placed ahead of God, it could lead to downfall in the terms of our pride. Thinking that we can do what we do or that we can do anything in our own efforts is prideful.
Pride goes before destruction and a haughty spirit before a fall the bible says in Proverbs 16:18.
There is a song that says when God is in it there is no limit! We have to remember to seek God 1st. And remember to involve him in all that we do, by doing this we are sure to keep him 1st ahead of our ambitions. And when we put him 1st, ALL other things fall in place! Serve God Not Money…in other wards Serve God before Money!
But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. Matthew 6:33 (NIV)
