The ABC11 Science Club
ABC11 Science Club. If you have littles, then I’m sure you’ve heard of the STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) education.
Well today I wanted to share the ABC11 Science Club with you! It is a unique, interactive experience sponsored by BASF, the largest chemical producer in the world. There goal is to make science fun – and bring it into homes across the Triangle in North Carolina! But even if you’re not in NC, you can still join in. Keep reading to find out how!
ABC11 Science Club with BASF has a weekly segment on Wednesdays during ABC11 Eyewitness News at 4:28pm EST., that demonstrates interactive science experiments on air and invites local families to do the same in their homes.
I believe that this is such an awesome idea and initiative that I am incorporating the experiments into our homeschool curricula, where applicable, and sharing them with you!
We are currently studying Compound Chemistry in Science, so I chose to do the Polymer experiment with the kids…”Polymers – Turn Milk Into Plastic”. There were only a few materials needed, those in which we already had around the house…that was one of the best parts as the teacher/parent. I printed the instructions from the website, gathered the materials and just followed the instructions along with the kids. You can find the step by step video of the experiment here along with the printable instructions.
The kids really enjoyed turning milk into plastic and learning more about polymers. Looking forward to following along with the TV segment and trying more experiments!
