Week 31: The Importance of Vision {Previous Weeks}

Without a vision, the people perish…
Perish – to become ruined, spoiled, or destroyed; die. {Office Edition Webster’s II New Riverside Dictionary Revised Edition.}

Proverbs 29:18 (AMP) Where there is no vision [no redemptive revelation of God], the people perish; but he who keeps the law [of God, which includes that of man]—blessed (happy, fortunate, and enviable) is he.

Proverbs 29:18 (KJV) Where there is no vision, the people perish: but he that keepeth the law, happy is he.

Proverbs 29:18 (MSG) If people can’t see what God is doing, they stumble all over themselves; But when they attend to what he reveals, they are most blessed.

Importance of a Vision. Our humanly makeup is one in which if there is nothing to reach for, nothing to strive for; we end up in a place of complacency and stagnant and never accomplishing anything… We were made in the image of God and therefore we are visionaries. This means we must have a vision in order to be fully successful in our lives.

You may have even heard someone say or maybe have said yourself at some point…it seems that there is nothing to live for. Well if you have a VISION, you will see daily that there is something to live for! You will press towards the mark of the prize of the high calling of God which is in Christ Jesus (Philippians 3:14)!

In the story of Jesus walking on the water (Matthew 14:22-33)…When Peter saw Jesus, he saw the vision and the vision made him believe for that moment that he could walk on water too and he did. But as soon as he lost sight of the vision, he took his eyes off the goal, he began to sink. We must write the vision and work towards it, not taking our eyes off of it, not even for a second!

Habakkuk 2:2-3 (NKJV) Then the Lord answered me and said: “Write the vision And make it plain on tablets, That he may run who reads it. 3 For the vision is yet for an appointed time; But at the end it will speak, and it will not lie. Though it tarries, wait for it; Because it will surely come, It will not tarry.

Habakkuk 2:2-3 (MSG) And then God answered: “Write this. Write what you see. Write it out in big block letters so that it can be read on the run. This vision-message is a witness pointing to what’s coming. It aches for the coming—it can hardly wait! And it doesn’t lie. If it seems slow in coming, wait. It’s on its way. It will come right on time.

Without a Vision, There is No Provision” – Festus Nsoha

God can only answer the prayers that we pray! If we do not pray, he will not miraculously give. The bible says that we must make our request known to God (Philippians 4:6); we must ask him for it. The bible also says that we have not because we ask not (James 4:2)! A Vision tells God what we are striving for, it shows him our desires, what we would like to see come to past in our future and when we pray over our vision…God can and will provide for us.

Do you have a VISION?
