The truth of God’s Word makes us free.
So I’ve been participating in a bible study with a group of ladies for the past several weeks. We are half way through the 13 week study, Experiencing God by Henry and Richard Blackaby.
And to say that it has been life transforming even at this point, would be an understatement.
Now as part of one of the daily lessons, we were instructed to do a prayer walk. To basically spend time with the Lord. And to listen to what He may be speaking to us.
During that time, I kept hearing the phrase, “Deeper Still, Freer Still”. It kept coming up over and over in my spirit.
And over the past several weeks, this is what the Lord has been saying. And it speaks to us all.
Deeper Still. Freer Still.
The deeper we go into the Word.
The deeper we go into our relationship with God.
The deeper we go into the Word.
The deeper we care about the things that He cares about.
The deeper we go into the Word.
The deeper we hate the things that He hates.
The deeper we go into the Word.
The deeper we love the things that He loves.
The deeper we go into the Word. The freer we become.
Deeper Still. Freer Still.
The deeper we go in God, all other things begin to fade into the background in a major way.
We become freer to let things go. The things that really don’t matter in light of eternity.
God wants us so deep in Him and His Word that we rely ONLY on Him. And thus this scripture comes to mind.
“When the man went out toward the east with a measuring line in his hand, he measured a thousand cubits, and he led me through the water, water that was ankle-deep. Again he measured a thousand [cubits] and led me through the water, water that was knee-deep. Again he measured a thousand [cubits] and led me through the water, water reaching the hips. Again he measured a thousand [cubits]; and it was a river that I could not pass through, for the water had risen, enough water to swim in, a river that could not be crossed [by wading].”
Ezekiel 47:3-5 AMP
Our need for control most often keeps us stuck in ankle deep waters in our relationship with the Lord. When He is saying there’s freedom with Him in deep waters.
Freedom in leaning and depending on Him as our everything.
Deeper Still. Freer Still.
Because it is the Truth of God’s Word Makes Us Free.
So Help us Lord to go deeper still, that we may be freer still.
