Top 3 Metabolism Boosting Tips

It is no secret that as we age, our metabolism begins to slow down! Unfortunately, I had begun experiencing it, where I was working out like a mad woman and seeing hardly any results. As, I have stated in my last fitness post, I had upped my cardio to about 60 – 75min, 5 days per week in order to see some weight loss and to me that was a lot. It has been 4 months since I started working out to lose weight which included sensible eating, tracking calories with MyFitnessPal app but I hadn’t seen any weight loss for the first 3 months. BUT I am happy to report, that my body finally decided to get with the program and I’m losing weight YAY! Just recently, within the past month have I seen some weight loss, a loss of almost 8 lbs in fact! So I’m sharing my Top 3 Metabolism Boosting Tips…at least what worked for me! No gimmicks, supplements or fad diets here just hard work!

Top 3 Metabolism Boosting Tips

  1. Pump Some Iron – Strength training. Work those muscles ladies! Muscle burns fat even after the workout is done and you are sedentary. I added in 2 strength training days per week, each at 30 minutes…1 targeting my lower body and 1 targeting my upper body.
  2. Turn up the Cardio – Intense cardio training. Try interval training versus the same run pace or bike pace. I was running 30-40 minutes at the same run pace which is good for the heart but doesn’t produce much fat burn, so I started doing interval training where I walk for a few minutes then sprint for a few minutes. When you start these, get ready to sweat…I started seeing results shortly after beginning interval training. It’s a love/hate thing but the results are undeniable!
  3. Drink Up– Up the anty on the water intake. Water within itself will not make you loose weight but it helps with digestion and replenishing your body of fluids that have been expelled. I had found myself so many time bloated for seemingly no reason…well the problem was that I wasn’t getting enough water in my system so my body was retaining the little I was putting in. So with the increase of my water intake…my potty breaks are more regular and the bloating has ceased! Say it with me, “Infused Water“…yes, this helped up my water intake big time!

So there’s my tips, I pray that they are helpful and I can’t wait to hear how you’ve been reaching your fitness goals or what you’ve been doing to boost your metabolism!

So how’s your #fitnesslately?

  1. So true! As I get older I have to up my weights/cardio game to make an impact. I always love the “infused water” idea, but never have gotten around to trying it. You have inspired me to give my water a little kick! 🙂 Thank you!

You’ve got to give the infused water another go…I’m telling you, I was hardly drinking 1 cup a day, now I’m reaching the recommended 8 cups almost everyday!

  2. Yes, to metabolism boosters! My biggest struggle area is water. I have been doing a lot better lately. I have started back my interval workouts on my machines and I think that helps me a lot! Great post!
