It’s so easy these days to get caught up ‘in our feelings’. Like, as if it wasn’t already. But those are the times when we must choose Faith over Feelings.

Choose Faith over Feelings.

Our culture fuels itself on a “what about me” and “what’s in it for me” mentality.

Because “Gratitude doesn’t come naturally. But Self-pity does.” as Max Lucado puts it in his book “you’ll get through this“.

So when I begin to get in my feelings, I know that it is time to bring in a biblical perspective. To choose Faith over feelings.

Because the perspective of Truth will always always cast out the lies of darkness.

So when I begin to think of all I’ve lost, I think of Job. Who when he lost everything he had, he blessed the Lord.

When I think I can’t go on, I think of Isaiah. Who was determined to do God’s Will and set his face like a flint. Unmovable and unshakable.

And I think of Paul who was determined to press towards the mark for the prize of the high calling of God. And even until the end fought the good fight of faith.

When my faith is shaken, I think of Abraham. Who stumbled not at the Word of the Lord but believed. And it was accounted until him as righteousness.

When I have yet another giant to face, I think of David. Who killed the giant Goliath with one smooth stone because of the great big God living on the inside of him.

When I feel like I’ve been thrown into a pit of despair, I think of Joseph. Who went from the pit to the palace. How God used EVERYTHING that he went through for his good.

When I feel as if no one cares, I look at Hagar. Who ran away from her circumstances but who found her God. The God who sees her. And the one who cares for her.

When it feels as though the waters of my circumstances are too deep to cross, I think of Moses. Who when faced with the Red Sea on one side and Pharaoh’s army on the other, believed God. And with his staff, parted the sea.

This is what it is to choose Faith over Feelings.

When I begin to feel the heat of a fiery situation, I think of the three Hebrew boys. Who were thrown into the fiery furnace because they would not bow their knee to any other God. But God was with them in the fire. And they all came out unscathed.

When I begin to think that it is over, I think of Lazarus. Who had been dead for four days but Jesus raised him up again. Because it’s not over until God says that it is over.

And when I begin to think that I have sacrificed so much for the kingdom. I think of Jesus. Who sacrificed everything. His very life to save a world that most often rejects Him.

This is what it is to choose Faith over Feelings.

So you are not the only one.
I am not the only one.
Who sometimes get into their feelings.

So many have gone before us in their problems, circumstances and situations.

But with one common theme.

They all made the decision to choose faith over feelings.
And in God obtained Victory.

So when you begin to get in your feelings…Think on these things.
