As you know I celebrated my birthday in the Happiest Place on Earth, Walt Disney World. There is no place that I would have rather been than Disney on such a milestone event. I could go on and on about the reasons why, but I’ll leave that for a different post, lol!

Henna Art

One of the things that I got to experience was the art of Henna Art in Animal Kingdom. Pictured above is the wonderful Disney cast member Cindy who did the art for me. You can also find Henna Art in Morocco at Epcot. I had seen it done on various TV programs as well as in the Disney parks on previous visits. And since I love all things artsy, it has always intrigued me. So, I finally had the opportunity to give it a try.

Henna Art

Henna Art, Walt Disney World

If you’re not familiar with Henna Art. It is an ancient art form that has been practiced for years and years with origins in India, Africa, and the Middle East. Henna comes from a plant, that contains pigment that stains. It actually has a variety of medicinal properties and can be used for dying clothes, hair and your skin temporarily.

Henna Art

Hence, this Henna Art that I got, is basically a temporary tattoo. It went on as a paste, then I had to wait for it to dry and allow the past to fall off on its own. Which was about 20 minutes. And I couldn’t get it wet for 2 hours. It was very faint and I almost thought something was wrong. But over the course of a few days (24-48hrs), the henna oxidizes and the design becomes darker and darker. The design is said to last for at least 1 week. It’s been a little over a week and mine is still vibrant looking.

There are tons of designs to choose from. But, of course I chose one with Mickey!

I sooo loved the experience and looking forward to doing it again! Have you experienced Henna Art?
