Mary Poppins Mommy/Daughter Date

Mary Poppins Mommy/Daughter Date

Mary Poppins Mommy/Daughter Date. I can’t quit singing! “Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious”! And “A spoonful of Sugar”! These songs have been stuck in my head since last night…

Mary Poppins Mommy/Daughter Date

First of all if you haven’t noticed already, I am a Huge Huge Disney Fan! So I was beyond thrilled to have the opportunity to see Disney and Cameron Mackintosh’s Mary Poppins at the Duke Energy Center for Performing Arts with my 10 year old daughter as one of our Mommy/Daughter Dates! This opportunity was made possible because I am a member of the NC Blogger Network invited to review the show as a member of digital media….Get more information about joining here.

So, about our experience. We arrived early for a little meet and greet with other members of the blogger network in the “Backers Club” VIP lounge where we were welcomed with appetizers and pre-show drinks. Mary Poppins Mommy/Daughter Date

As for the show, it was everything that I hoped that it would be. Mary Poppins is such a childhood favorite. And I am such a huge Julia Andrews (Sound of Music) fan and she also stars in the original Mary Poppins. So I’m always funny about others playing her roles. Well…the lead actress, Kara Lindsay, in this rendition along side Nicolas Dromard was phenomenal…the entire cast were. From vocals to the orchestra, there were all awesome. {Note: All production photos of Mary Poppins are credited to: Curtis Brown}

During intermission, I asked my daughter what she liked so far? Her response “All of it!” Me too! And a similar question, at the end…She loved it all!

My favorites beside the beautiful vocals, was the choreography especially the Stepping scene and the humor…laughter is good medicine!

And I also absolutely loved that Mary Poppins was actually flown in and out of scenes by the wind with her umbrella with the perfect silhouette and form as the original movie.

  1. I’m picky about other actors when I’m so used to a beloved performance by a particular star too, but I’m so glad you enjoyed the show!

  2. This looks like such a fun mommy/daughter event. I can’t wait to go to shows like this with my girls, especially as they get older and can really appreciate it. Now, I’ve definitely got my eye on seeing Beauty and the Beast at the theatre next year…my absolute fav!!

  3. Love the show! I’m glad you also had a great time!

  5. What a great mother/daughter date! Mary Poppins is one of my all time favorites, and I’d love to see it live. I’m hoping it comes to our area soon.

  6. I saw this show as a kid on Broadway and absolutely loved it 🙂 My sister and I grew up singing all the songs and as a teenager I’d sing them in vocal lessons!!! Such a childhood classic
