I had the awesome opportunity to share Shop Your Closet concepts with a room full of beautiful women at the Pursuit Women’s Conference at Victory Church in Raleigh a few months ago. It was so fun teaming up with another sister at our church to ensure that our little segment went off without a hitch! Since we got really great feedback from the segment, I just wanted to share Shop Your Closet – 3 Quick Tips with you.

Shop Your Closet – 3 Quick Tips

Organize. Organize your closet. I know you didn’t want to hear this but it’s true. How will you know what awesome things you have in your closet if it’s not organized. I literally just finished my side of the closet a little bit ago. That included getting rid of 3 large garbage bags full of clothes to good will. I should do a whole other post on organizing a closet because it was a whole experience (a whole few days) itself, lol.

Pin. Start with PIN-tastic Looks. If you’re not utilizing Pinterest for sparking ideas and inspo, you’re missing out. It’s such a great tool for organizing thought and ideas. So with this you can sort of “window shop” on Pinterest as you would at a department store or when you are out shopping. To get ideas for different looks. Then you take that look and literally look into your closet and find pieces that you can use to recreate those looks. It’s so cool and so fun. One of my fave board for Summer is my Stylish Worshipper board that I created.

Try. Try out new combinations. Yes, you know that blue shirt that you purchased specifically with those khaki pants. The combo that you saw on the mannequin? Yes, that one. Mix it up a bit by separating those pieces that you initially bought as an outfit. And now swap out a different top or bottom. Thus, creating a new look, voila! Layering is such a great way to create new combinations. Kimonos and dusters are my current faves! Blazers, cardigans, and vests are additionally cool options.

In closing, the awesome benefit of shopping your closet is rediscovering the great things you have already. While putting together new looks and actually saving money in the process.
